Family and friends raise over £7,800 for Nightingale House in memory of Christopher

Twenty four family members have friends have joined together to run or walk over 1000 miles in memory of 41-year-old Christopher Edge from Buckley.

Duncan Macaskill and friends have raised an incredible £7,856.40 to thank Nightingale House Hospice for the wonderful support Christopher and his family received in the final few days of his life.

Over 150 activities were held including marathons, a half marathon, walks, and hikes covering a total of 1023 miles.

Duncan and friends pledged to walk or run distances from 2.6 miles to 26 miles between 1 and 7 June.

He said “Chris was a great friend to many people and we wanted to say thank you for the support and care he received from Nightingale Hospice.

“Ironically he wasn’t a big fan of either walking or running so what better way to remember him by carrying his memory with us as we undertook this challenge.”

Nightingale House Challenge Events Co-ordinator Bethan Scott said: “We are blown away by Duncan and his friends for taking on this incredible challenge and are overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who has supported them to date – thank you.”
