    A questionnaire will be sent to the successful candidate. This must be completed and forwarded to Occupational Health. The candidate must be declared fit before commencing employment.

    Qualifications/Professional Registration

    Appointments are offered subject to the successful candidate providing evidence of professional qualification(s) and continuing professional registration.


    All offers of employment are subject to the receipt of two references that are satisfactory to the Hospice.

    Contract – Notice Period    

    1 week’s notice is required, from either party, during the probationary period and 4 weeks thereafter.

    Probationary Period

    Appointments for all staff are subject to a 3 or 6 month probationary period depending on the role.

    The Hospice operates a pension scheme through NOW pensions who will contact you regarding the scheme and eligibility once you are in post. If you are currently in the NHS pension scheme please discuss this with HR on commencement.

    Life Insurance Cover

    Death in Service Life Insurance Cover equivalent to two times basic salary for all eligible staff who are not covered by the NHS Superannuation Scheme.


    Holiday entitlement is 25 days per year plus 8 Bank Holidays for full time staff, (pro rata for part time hours). This increases to a maximum of 32 days plus Bank Holidays after 10 years service, subject to Holiday policy.

    Sick Pay        

    In the first year of service – up to 5 contractual sick days then SSP

    In the second year of service – up to 10 contractual sick days then SSP.

    After two years’ employment – up to 13 weeks full pay and 13 weeks half  pay in any rolling year

    After 5 years’ employment – up to 26 weeks full pay and 26 weeks half pay in any rolling year

    Pro rata for part time staff. The above is subject to the sickness absence procedures being followed.

    Bank Holiday           

    Time worked on a Bank holiday is paid at time and a half. This payment is only for staff who are required to work on the Bank Holiday e.g. Inpatients, Kitchen, Housekeeping.

    Staff Dining Room

    Excellent catering facilities which offer hot meals, snacks and sandwiches at lunch time.
