    Nightingale House Hospice has a vacancy for a Head of Clinical and Patient Services to join our executive management team.

    Working closely with other function leaders the post holder will lead and support the multi-disciplinary clinical team to deliver against our strategic plan.

    With increasing demand for services, the hospice is currently undergoing a modernisation and refurbishment programme to broaden access to hospice care while maintaining high standards of delivery.

    You will be a registered nurse with previous experience in Palliative care/Oncology. Team leadership experience is essential

    The successful candidate will take on the role of registered manager for Nightingale House Hospice.

    • Lead Clinical Administrator

      Lead Clinical Administrator
      34hrs per week worked over 5 days
      Salary £20,202 FTE (£18,564 for 34 hrs per week)

      Do you have strong organisational and time management skills? Do you enjoy a challenge and juggling competing demands? Then this vacancy might be for you.

      The key responsibilities of the role include:-

      • To provide effective leadership for the Hospice Clinical Administrative Team and to support and develop the team.
      • To provide a comprehensive secretarial service to the medical and clinical teams at the hospice including Day Services, Inpatients and Rehabilitation team.
      • Co-ordinate Outpatient clinic appointments and manage the smooth running of the department
      • Record and register patient referrals in hospice register and on clinical systems including CANISC
      • To coordinate and take minutes at clinical meetings as required
      • To assist with the production of the medical staff on call rota
      • To provide cross cover for the secretary to the Head of Clinical and Patient Services when required
      • To provide cross cover for the Ward Clerk on the Inpatient unit when required

      Demanding a high level of IT competence and organisational skills you will also need to be able to prioritise workloads whilst dealing sensitively with issues and maintaining confidential information. Previous secretarial/admin experience is essential together with excellent communication skills. Experience of working within a clinical setting is desirable but not essential.

      • Senior Staff Nurse

        SENIOR STAFF NURSE – NIGHT SHIFT
        20 hours per week worked on a rota basis (2 Shifts per week)
        Salary £26898 FTE per annum
        Plus 15% Night Shift Allowance
        (£14,345 for 20 hours per week. £16,496 including night shift allowance)

        At Nightingale House Hospice, we pride ourselves in providing the best possible care for our patients and their families, and can only achieve this through our dedicated and committed staff. 

        We are looking for a Registered Nurse who wishes to develop a career in Specialist Palliative Care. You will be motivated and enthusiastic and want to work as part of a multi professional team committed to delivering a high standard of care to our patients and their families.

        You will be a registered Nurse and be able to demonstrate post registration experience in an acute, specialist or palliative care setting.

        There is a comprehensive induction with individual mentor and opportunities for professional development. 

        Palliative care/oncology experience is desirable but not essential.

          Medical

          A questionnaire will be sent to the successful candidate. This must be completed and forwarded to Occupational Health. The candidate must be declared fit before commencing employment.

          Qualifications/Professional Registration

          Appointments are offered subject to the successful candidate providing evidence of professional qualification(s) and continuing professional registration.

          References

          All offers of employment are subject to the receipt of two references that are satisfactory to the Hospice.

          Contract – Notice Period    

          1 week’s notice is required, from either party, during the probationary period and 4 weeks thereafter.

          Probationary Period

          Appointments for all staff are subject to a 3 or 6 month probationary period depending on the role.

          Pension         

          The Hospice operates a pension scheme through NOW pensions who will contact you regarding the scheme and eligibility once you are in post. If you are currently in the NHS pension scheme please discuss this with HR on commencement.

          Life Insurance Cover

          Death in Service Life Insurance Cover equivalent to two times basic salary for all eligible staff who are not covered by the NHS Superannuation Scheme.

          Holidays        

          Holiday entitlement is 25 days per year plus 8 Bank Holidays for full time staff, (pro rata for part time hours). This increases to a maximum of 32 days plus Bank Holidays after 10 years service, subject to Holiday policy.

          Sick Pay        

          In the first year of service – up to 5 contractual sick days then SSP

          In the second year of service – up to 10 contractual sick days then SSP.

          After two years’ employment – up to 13 weeks full pay and 13 weeks half  pay in any rolling year

          After 5 years’ employment – up to 26 weeks full pay and 26 weeks half pay in any rolling year

          Pro rata for part time staff. The above is subject to the sickness absence procedures being followed.

          Bank Holiday           

          Time worked on a Bank holiday is paid at time and a half. This payment is only for staff who are required to work on the Bank Holiday e.g. Inpatients, Kitchen, Housekeeping.

          Staff Dining Room

          Excellent catering facilities which offer hot meals, snacks and sandwiches at lunch time.
