Friends to walk 130 miles from Wrexham to Cardiff in aid of Nightingale House Hospice
A pair of Wrexham friends are walking a mammoth 130 miles in aid of a local hospice.
Sam Roberts and Cindy Jones, from Gwersyllt, are trekking from Wrexham to Cardiff to raise funds for Nightingale House Hospice.
The Wrexham hospice, which provides free palliative care services, is close to both their hearts.
This is because Nightingale House cared for Sam’s father-in-law and Cindy’s mother-in-law.
On February 27, the pair will set out on their mammoth feat – which will take an estimated four days to complete.
Sam said: “We’re hoping to reach Cardiff on St David’s Day (March 1) – so the final day we’ll be dressing up to mark it.
“We’d like to thank Steve Williams of Clean Solar Solutions who has provided us with special walking equipment.”
Sam and Cindy are no strangers to fundraising for the hospice.
Sam added: “We obviously feel really passionate about Nightingale House and the brilliant job it does – so raising money for it is the least we can do so it can keep providing this amazing service.
“We’ve done things like the Three Peaks Challenge and Tough Mudder in the past, but this is the hardest and most ambitious challenge yet.
“We’ll be collecting donations in Ashley Court Nursing Home in Gresford, Ty Pawb and DW Fitness in Wrexham.”
