Experience an enchanting candle lit evening of choral and orchestral music as Nightingale House Hospice invites you on a journey from reflection and remembrance to hope and light. With readings and stories shared by our staff, volunteers, and supporters, this special concert will celebrate the people and community at the heart of the hospice.
The evening will feature outstanding performances from NEW Sinfonia, conducted and compered by Robert Guy, the much-loved choir, Cantorion Rhos, under the direction of Ruth Evans, Eisteddfod winners the Rhos Male Voice Choir, conducted by James Llewelyn and the incredible voices of Elan Catrin Parry and Kathy Macaulay.
From quiet, contemplative moments to uplifting, joyous pieces, the programme will have you singing and dancing along. This will be a moving celebration of Christmas, community, and the enduring spirit of hope, leaving you inspired and filled with festive cheer.

Artist Highlights:
NEW Sinfonia
Based in North Wales, NEW Sinfonia is renowned for its professional chamber orchestra, community vocal ensemble NEW Voices, and education program NEW Academi. The ensemble brings high-quality music to audiences and supports freelance musicians from the region. Their members frequently perform with prestigious UK orchestras, including the BBC Philharmonic and the Hallé. As Orchestra in Residence at the North Wales International Music Festival, NEW Sinfonia is committed to innovative musical experiences and community engagement.
Robert Guy
Robert Guy is the Principal Conductor of the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Co-Artistic Director of NEW Sinfonia. His 2024/25 highlights include a West End debut at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, conducting the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and leading the world premiere of Gresford: Up From Underground at the North Wales International Music Festival.
Robert has conducted for the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Orchestra of Opera North, and Manchester Camerata. His notable achievements include the Hilary Tann Award for music excellence in Wales. Known for his collaborative approach, Robert’s journey from a state-educated student in Wrexham with hearing challenges to a prominent conductor exemplifies his dedication and passion for music.
Rhos Male Voice Choir
Founded in 1891 in Rhosllannerchrugog, the Rhos Male Voice Choir is celebrated for its rich tradition and exceptional performances. The choir has achieved numerous accolades, including first prizes at the National Eisteddfod of Wales and the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. They have performed at renowned venues like the Royal Albert Hall and Chicago Opera House, and have collaborated with esteemed artists such as Bryn Terfel and Katherine Jenkins. Their extensive repertoire spans hymn tunes, operatic pieces, and songs from the shows.
Cantorion Rhos
A vibrant mixed choir of over 40 voices, performing a wide range of music from major works like Fauré’s Requiem to lively, fun pieces such as Rhythm of Life. With a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, the choir sings in multiple languages and encourages local young musicians to gain experience. They are delighted to be led by their new Musical Director, Ruth Evans, an accomplished conductor and arts leader with a rich background in choral music across Wales and England.
