Join us at the beautiful Alyn Waters Country Park for the Nightingale House 5k & 10k, a fun, inclusive charity run that brings the community together to raise vital funds for patient care and services at Nightingale House Hospice. Whether you are chasing a personal best, jogging with friends, or taking part for the first time, this is an event for runners of all abilities. There is even a 1k kids’ dash, making it a brilliant day out for the whole family.
The Route
Starting from the Llay side of Alyn Waters, the course takes you on a scenic multi-terrain route with a mix of paths and inclines to keep things interesting. It is enjoyable, a little challenging, and incredibly rewarding.
The course will be clearly marked and fully marshalled, with chip-timed results provided by Nifty Entries. 10k runners will complete the 5k loop twice, with water stations and our friendly event team on hand throughout.

Every participant will receive a bespoke finisher’s medal, a cereal bar at the finish line, and a fantastic event atmosphere with entertainment and refreshment stalls waiting for you afterwards.

Who can take part?
The Nightingale House 5k & 10k is open to runners of all abilities. Whether you are an experienced runner, a beginner, or taking part for fun, you are very welcome. There is also a children’s 1k dash, making it a great event for families.

The event takes place at Alyn Waters Country Park, starting from the Llay side in Wrexham, postcode LL12 OPW
What is the route like?
The route is a scenic multi-terrain course with a mixture of paths and a few gentle inclines. It is designed to be enjoyable but still offer a challenge. The course will be clearly marked and fully marshalled on the day.
How does the 10k work?
The 10k run is made up of two laps of the 5k course. There will be water stations available, and our event team will be on hand throughout to support you.
Is the run timed?
Yes. Both the 5k and 10k include chip-timed results provided by Nifty Entries, so you can track your finish time accurately.
What do I get for taking part?
All runners will receive:

Do I need to raise sponsorship?
Your entry fee helps cover the cost of the event. To help us raise as much as possible for patient care and services, we strongly encourage all participants to aim to raise at least £30 in sponsorship. Every pound raised makes a real difference to patients and families supported by Nightingale House Hospice.
How do I raise sponsorship?
Once you have signed up, you can set up an online fundraising page through Just Giving and share it with friends, family, and colleagues. Our fundraising team will be on hand to support you with tips and encouragement to help you reach your target.
What time do I need to arrive?
Registration opens at 8.30am and closes at 9.30am. The 5k starts at 10.00am, the 10k at 10.15am, and the children’s 1k dash at 11.30am
How do I enter?
Places can be booked online in advance. Simply click the booking link on this page to secure your place. The children’s 1k dash will be open for registration on the day only.
Do I have to stay with my child at the run?
We will do everything we can to minimise the risk of injury and harm to all participants whilst at the event. It is the parents/guardians who ultimately have responsibility for the welfare of their children.
It is not mandatory for a parent/guardian to participate in the run, but children under the age of 15 must be accompanied to/from the event by a responsible adult, and the responsible adult must remain in attendance for the duration of the event.
Can we bring our dog to the run?
No dogs or other pets are allowed to accompany runners on the course. The only exception to this rule is a participant accompanied by an assistance dog. Please email fundraising@nightingalehouse.co.uk if you are planning on bringing an assistance dog with you so we can help to facilitate this on the day.
You can spectate with your dog on a lead, but please stand well back from the course.
Can buggies/pushchairs take part in the run?
Buggies are allowed, subject to course conditions.
Adults with buggies are urged to position themselves appropriately for the safety and enjoyment of all.
What’s the deadline for entries?
Entries are welcome up until the day of the event. Book early to benefit from our Tired pricing structure.

Limited parking is available at Alyn Waters Country Park, LL12 0PW.
