Llangollen and Chirk Nightingale House Hospice Community groups stepped into spring with a swing on Wednesday 29th April joining forces to host an afternoon tea at the spectacular Tyn Dwr Hall, set in the scenic Dee Valley of Llangollen.

With sunshine lighting up the grounds, more than 100 guests arrived at the magnificent Grade II listed hall and were warmly welcomed by the team as tea and coffee flowed. Before long, tables were filled with a delicious selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, homemade cakes and classic scones. The afternoon was lifted even further by a superb performance from jazz and swing singer, Jack Graeme, who brought smiles across the room with favourites from swing legends including Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. A raffle followed, featuring a wonderful range of prizes donated by local businesses.

Chair of the Board of Trustees at Nightingale House, Chris Burgoyne, reflected on the event:

“Tyn Dwr Hall was the perfect setting for a truly uplifting afternoon. From the stunning venue to the delicious spread of sandwiches, cakes and scones, everything helped create a bright, welcoming atmosphere. It was wonderful to see our community come together in support of Nightingale House Hospice, and Jack Graeme’s music brought so much joy to the room.”

The Chair of the Llangollen Community Fundraising Group added:

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported this wonderful community fundraiser and helped make it such a success. A special thank you to the marvellous team at Tyn Dwr Hall for hosting us, and to Jack Graeme for keeping everyone entertained and bringing joy throughout the afternoon. Events like this shine a light on what our community can achieve together.”

Tracy Owen, Tyn Dwr Hall Manager, said:

“It was a pleasure to welcome guests to Tyn Dwr Hall for such a positive, feel-good event. We’re delighted everyone enjoyed the afternoon tea. Supporting Nightingale House Hospice means a great deal to us, and it was lovely to see the venue filled with warmth, laughter and music for a great cause.”

The event raised an incredible £2,900, which will directly support our work and help us continue to deliver free specialist care to people in our community who need us most. A special thank you to Tyn Dwr Hall and their wonderful staff, Jack Graeme, Tipples (for the loan of the cake stands), and the members of the Llangollen and Chirk community groups.
