Inpatient services
A home away from home
Our 12-bed inpatient unit is a home away from home. Patients may come to stay in our inpatient unit for many reasons, including for symptom management, end-of-life care or for one week of respite, but every stay is unique to the individual. We are not a long term facility, and most placements are short term, tailored to each person’s needs.
We appreciate that some people may feel anxious about coming to a hospice, but please don’t be afraid. From the moment you arrive, our friendly staff and volunteers will give you a warm welcome. You will also be supported by a dedicated team of professionals, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and healthcare assistants who will care for you and your family every step of your journey.
Throughout your stay, there will always be somebody available to talk to, and all our staff will do their best to support you, both physically and mentally. Your care plan will be reviewed and adjusted regularly, and you will always be given the opportunity to discuss your care with the team. We also encourage you and your family or carer to ask questions at any time.

PROFESSIONAL REFERRALS
Patients can be referred to us either by their GP, District Nurse, the health board’s Specialist Palliative Care Team (SPCT), Clinical Nurse Specialists and other medical specialists involved in their care.
“Our self-referral system makes it easier for families in need to access our services. We focus on meeting patients’ goals and wishes by being flexible and working together as a caring team. That’s what makes our hospice environment so special.
If you’re curious about the services we provide or think that you or a family member might benefit from our support, including our inpatient unit, please feel free to contact us. We’re here to help and would love to chat with you!”
