Gifts in Wills
Leaving a gift in your will is a simple way to leave a lasting legacy, ensuring that hospice care is available now and in the future. Â
Leaving a gift to Nightingale House Hospice in your will is a meaningful way to continue supporting our care for years to come. It helps ensure that future patients and their families receive the compassion, dignity and support they need, when it matters most.
A gift in your will doesn’t cost anything during your lifetime, but it can make a lasting difference for generations to come.
We are incredibly grateful to those who have already chosen to support the hospice in this way. Their kindness continues to make a real impact every day.
We understand that your loved ones will always come first, and it’s important to make sure they are provided for. But by remembering a cause close to your heart, you also have the opportunity to help many more people in your community.
“I’m so grateful for Nightingale House , and I think it’s vital that people continue to support it.
Without funding, others like me might not have the chance to experience everything it offers.”
Why make a will
A will is the simplest way to make sure your wishes are respected, your loved ones are cared for, and your affairs are in order. Most people use their will to provide for family and friends, and many also choose to leave a lasting gift to a cause close to their heart. Each year, thoughtful supporters help Nightingale House Hospice in this way, ensuring our care continues for future generations.
When to make a will
Making a will isn’t just for later in life. It’s worth considering when you have children, buy a home, get married, or retire. Life changes quickly, so keeping
your wishes recorded gives peace of mind for you and your loved ones.
How to make a will
Start by making a note of everything you own (your assets) and anything you owe. You can use the helpful assets checklist on the following page to guide you through this. Once you’ve done this, you can contact a solicitor of your choice to arrange a meeting and have your will professionally prepared.
How to make a change to my existing will
If you already have a will, it’s easy to make changes as your circumstances
or wishes evolve. A solicitor can update it by adding a codicil or preparing a new will. Reviewing your will regularly, especially after major life events, helps ensure it still reflects your intentions and continues to protect the people and causes you care about.
What happens if you don't make a will
Without a will, the distribution of your estate will follow the rules of intestacy, which may not align with the way you would like your estate to be shared.
