Respite

Supporting patients and their loved ones

Caring for someone with a life-limiting illness can be both rewarding and challenging. Our respite care service offers patients a short stay in our hospice, providing specialist care in a safe and comfortable environment while giving families and carers the opportunity to rest and recharge.

Benefits of Respite Care:

  • Specialist Support – 24/7 care from our expert team, ensuring patients receive the highest level of support.
  • Peace of Mind for Carers – Families can take a break knowing their loved one is in safe hands.
  • Symptom Management – Helping to manage pain, breathlessness, fatigue, and other symptoms in a supportive setting.
  • Emotional & Social Wellbeing – Patients benefit from companionship, activities, and a change of surroundings.

Each respite stay is tailored to individual needs, ensuring comfort, dignity, and compassionate care. Whether for a few days or a longer period, our team is here to provide support for both patients and their families.

PROFESSIONAL REFERRALS

Patients can be referred to us either by their GP, District Nurse, the health board’s Specialist Palliative Care Team (SPCT), Clinical Nurse Specialists and other medical specialists involved in their care.

“Patient respite has many benefits for all involved. It gives patients the opportunity to access the hospice and all our services. Patients who have regular respite feel comfortable and at ease coming back to a familiar environment and faces. Respite care also gives families and carers a break and rest for their own wellbeing.
