Carer support

Here to support you

Caring for a loved one with a life-limiting or progressive illness can be physically and emotionally demanding. At Nightingale House Hospice, we recognise the challenges you face and are dedicated to offering the support you need.

How can we help?

Practical Support

Guidance on care options, finances, benefits, and housing.

Assistance with paperwork and navigating welfare and housing systems, with signposting to key services such as the Northeast Wales Carers Information Service (NEWCIS) and Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB).

Emotional Support

A safe and welcoming space where you can connect with others in a similar situation, reducing isolation through peer support and shared experiences.

Discussions on carers’ rights, self-care, and practical issues such as legal matters (wills and Lasting Power of Attorney).

Who can access our support?

The Carer Support Programme is open to anyone in a caring role with a loved one connected to Nightingale House Hospice.

SUPPORT WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST

We understand that bereavement can bring a range of emotions and challenges, which is why we offer tailored support for both adults and children.

Carer Support Programme :

We have launched a Carer Support Programme designed to provide vital help and respite for carers.

This initiative offers a much-needed break while your loved ones attend our Wellbeing sessions at the hospice. By running the carers’ group alongside our Wellbeing Programme, we remove the barrier of feeling unable to leave your loved one, enabling you to focus on your own needs.

Each session is shaped by the carers themselves, ensuring the support provided is tailored to your needs. Even a few hours away can make a significant difference in preventing burnout and maintaining your wellbeing.
