Respite

Supporting patients and their loved ones

Our respite care service offers patients the opportunity to stay at Nightingale House for a short period of up to one week. During this time, patients receive specialist care in a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment, while giving families and carers the chance to rest, recharge, and take a break from their caring responsibilities.

Each respite stay is personalised to meet individual needs, ensuring comfort, dignity, and compassionate support. Whether it’s for a few days or the full week, our experienced team is on hand to provide care for patients and support for their families throughout their stay.

Benefits of respite care:

Respite care offers comprehensive support that goes beyond medical treatment, providing patients with 24/7 access to a specialist team dedicated to delivering the highest level of care. This ensures effective management of symptoms such as pain, breathlessness, and fatigue, helping patients remain as comfortable as possible. Families also gain peace of mind, knowing their loved one is safe and well cared for, allowing them a chance to rest and recharge.

Beyond physical care, our team focuses on emotional and social wellbeing, offering companionship, meaningful activities, and a welcoming environment that can bring a positive change of surroundings for patients.

“Having respite at the hospice was so relaxing. It gave my husband and me time to reflect and unwind, knowing I was in safe hands.”

“Respite care offers valuable benefits for everyone involved. For patients, it provides a chance to become familiar with our environment and team, helping them feel more at ease and confident when accessing our services. For families and carers, many of whom provide full-time support, respite offers essential time to rest and recharge, supporting their own health and wellbeing. Knowing their loved one is being cared for in a safe and supportive setting brings peace of mind and helps them continue in their caring role with renewed strength.”
