Join us this May for Swim into Summer, and become a Hospice Hero.
Swim into Summer is a month-long swimming challenge taking place this May, encouraging you to push yourself, stay active, and become a Hospice Hero. The challenge is designed to be flexible and achievable, allowing you to build up your swimming across the month and pace yourself in a way that suits your routine. Some days might be just a few lengths, others a longer swim, with time to rest and recharge along the way. While it’s meant to test you, it’s a challenge you can absolutely achieve, and every swim you complete helps make a real difference.
We’re asking supporters to either –
Swim up and down Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake), 3.5miles each way, the longest lake in our community footprint, as many times as possible.
or
Swim the 22 miles of the English Channel in honour of the average amount of patients and carers we see each month in our wellbeing programme, rehabilitation services and complementary therapy sessions.
It might seem an overwhelming number of miles however it is less than a mile a day. You can pace yourself across the whole month, some days doing only a few lengths, whilst others, when you have more time, you can do 1.5 miles. You don’t have to keep swimming once you are in the pool, take time out to try out the sauna or jacuzzi, if you are lucky enough to have one, before completing your swimming session.
Just remember this is a challenge, it is meant to be tricky, but it is achievable.
How It Works:
- Register for just £10
- Complete the activity tracker we send you
- Set and share your Just Giving page to raise a suggested £100 in sponsorship
- Receive a certificate and Hospice Hero’s Medal upon completion
You can share your achievement through our social media pages, where you can connect with other participants, share your progress, and stay motivated throughout the month.
Every length you swim and every pound you raise will help provide compassionate care to local people when they need it most.
The money you raise whilst doing this challenge will have a huge impact, supporting patient care and services at Nightingale House Hospice.
This challenge is part of our Year of the Challenge, an inspiring campaign inviting people to take on one or more challenges throughout 2026 to support Nightingale House Hospice. By signing up, you will become a Hospice Hero, helping raise vital funds that support patient care and services for people and families living with life-limiting and progressive illnesses.
Every challenge completed helps us continue providing compassionate care when it matters most.
