Wrexham firm create special partnership with hospice

Social workers at Nightingale House have thanked a Wrexham arts and crafts firm for its generous donations which are helping bereaved children and young people at the hospice.

Not only have staff from the Sizzix company raised just under £5000 by climbing Snowdon they have also provided arts and crafts equipment which is being used by social workers working to support young family members.

With no specific budget for arts and craft materials, the donation has proved invaluable when making things like memory books.

Ellison Europe Ltd Charity Ambassador, Angharad Stead said: “We’re really pleased that we could provide Nightingale House with our products to help with their craft sessions. The work that the social workers do at the hospice is inspiring, and we hope they enjoy using Sizzix products to help create their wonderful memory books.”

Ellison Europe Ltd Marketing Administrator Rebecca Lopuc added: “I really enjoyed spending time with the team at Nightingale House. It was great to see how our products can help with the craft workshops for young adults and children. I’m looking forward to hearing about the amazing projects they create and how we can help support the social workers again in the future.”

Nightingale House Hospice Social Worker Lesley Chambers said: “One of the kindest donations from an individual or company is their time. Not only did Sizzix donate some wonderful equipment such as paper cutting machines, but they also shared their time and expertise in using their products and showed us how to create the best results. Bereavement is one of the toughest challenges a young person may experience and the work we do has been enhanced with the support and products donated by Sizzix.

“Many children and young people find the creation of a memory book helps them to capture the important times they may have had with their special person. Sometimes, however, they feel their drawing or writing isn’t ‘good enough’ for such a special piece of work. The donated equipment continues to allow the young person to remain in control of their book or creations, whilst also allowing them to be unique and tailored to them and their loved one.

“Thank you so much to all at Sizzix for their ongoing support.”
