Volunteer Portable Appliance Tester

Role Overview

After training you will be carrying out simple Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) on donated electrical goods. This is a combination of a rigorous visual and physical inspection and then testing the appliance with an easy to use Batt Tester which will be provided

What skills, qualities and values will you need?

  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to record simple data in a PAT testing log book
  • Able to work without distractions in a busy environment
  • Willingness to carry out instructions from members of staff
  • Physically able to lift and move small and medium sized electrical products
  • Ability to empathise with people that you come into contact with
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team

Essential Information

  • You must be at least 16 years of age
  • Be able to supply two character references
  • This role is subject to a basic level Disclosure Barring Services Check
