Let us eat Cake!
Over the last couple of months, the Caffi Cwtch team have begun a new tradition of bringing cake filled goodness to the people of North Wales. Check out our Facebook page if you don’t believe us.
There has certainly been no shortage of inspiration as thanks to our head chef, we have been presented on a daily basis with cakes, scones, muffins and tarts that quite literally make our mouth water.
These are the cakes we feel like we have been searching for. The cakes that we would sneak a piece of at breakfast.
And in the middle of the night.
Call us bias, but they are incredible.
Really. Sometimes they show up in our dreams.
We could go on, but you can see what we mean.
As you all know here at Caffi Cwtch, we are always happy to go the extra mile when it comes to our service so, last week, , when a young lady asked us to make her a special birthday cake, how could we say no?
The birthday girl in question was Amy and she had a particular soft spot for carrot cake. Simple, sweet and a cake that has certainly stood the test of time.
Believe it or not, the idea of using carrots in desserts actually dates back to Medieval times, when carrot pudding was enjoyed as a sweet at banquets. This was probably due to the carrots’ natural sweetness although the pudding itself would have been steamed not baked!
There was much anticipation from the Caffi Cwtch team while Amy’s cake was being prepared. After all, you only get one birthday cake a YEAR so it has to be special. We needn’t have fretted though, the finished result was spectacular. Here’s our head chef Peter modelling it, doesn’t it look fab!
Most importantly, as you can see, Amy enjoyed it too. Although we still aren’t convinced with the idea of sharing it….
