Inpatient unit

The Inpatient Unit is available to people aged over 18 who have specific progressive life-limiting illnesses. The Inpatient Unit aims to enhance quality of life for patients and their families by providing specialist care and assessment, support to manage the symptoms of illness, psychological support and rehabilitation. The Inpatient Unit also provides end of life care.

Care on the Inpatient Unit is delivered by a team of specialists from several professions.

This includes

  • nursing and medical staff,
  • ambulance drivers,
  • physiotherapists,
  • occupational therapists,
  • social workers and chaplaincy.

Patients also have access to a range of complementary therapies.

The Inpatient Unit is based at Nightingale House Hospice and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To access the services provided at the Inpatient unit, you will need to be referred by your GP or consultant.
