Young Peoples Volunteering Partnership

The Young Peoples Volunteering Partnership aims to enable young people aged 16 - 24 years old to volunteer at Nightingale House Hospice in meaningful ways and to enhance CV’s and job prospects. Volunteers accepted onto the Programme will first experience volunteering opportunities in the wider hospice community before taking on further roles within the hospice. These will be reviewed and altered on a termly basis. Volunteer roles include reception desk, serving patient meals and house-keeping duties. Volunteers are generally asked to contribute 2 - 4 hours per week.
Nightingale House Hospice is also keen to welcome school groups to volunteer in specifically designed projects including newsletter distributions and grounds maintenance projects.
Volunteers are asked to fill in a Volunteer Application Form, provide two references, undergo CRB check and Induction Training as appropriate.
Full training for each role to be undertaken will be given.

The Millennium Volunteers Project
The Millennium Volunteer Project has been running since 1999. Since then over 10,000 young people across Wales have signed up to the project and it is now recognised by education establishments, employers and the wider community throughout the whole of the UK.
At the start of a volunteer placement at Nightingale House Hospice volunteers aged between 16 and 24 years old are invited to make a commitment to volunteer for a period of time (usually a year) so that the hours they contributed can be accredited. Certificates are available for volunteers completing 100 hours of service. For volunteers who complete 200 hours will receive an Award of Excellence signed by the First Minister of the National Assembly for Wales.
