Tea rooms swap to coffee for fundraiser

Mario’s Tea Rooms, Gresford has chosen to partner with our Hospice starting their fundraising with a coffee morning that saw many local residents turn out in support.

Since taking over the cafe last year, new owners Mario Filipov and Ian Hesketh have been wanting to link up a with a charity directly affecting the lives of people in their local community.

Mario said: “We have picked Nightingale House as there are so many people in our area that have benefitted from the care that the hospice gives and we realised they look after people with many illnesses and support their families as well.

“When we advertised our coffee morning, we had a huge response and our customers were very generous in their support too.

“We want to help the Hospice in any way we can, and were very happy to offer a prize for their recent Auction of Promises. We plan to hold many more events in the future.”

Sam Eastwood, Area Fundraiser for Nightingale House, said: “It was a lovely surprise when Mario and Ian contacted me. We all know how important sitting down and chatting over a cup of tea is, and having a partnership with them not only helps us financially, but also enables us to put our literature in their cafe, hopefully encouraging people to talk about the hospice, and helping to remove the idea that the Hospice is where you go to die, as we offer so much more to those whose lives are shorter than they should be.”
