Pet shop helps hospice dogs go for walkies…

A pet shop based in Gwersyllt is helping a local hospice dog walk go off with a bark by donating some unusual but vital items.

M&L Pets World are supporting a Wrexham based charity, Nightingale House Hospice with their annual Woofs and Wellies dog walk, held on Sunday 10th December at Alyn Water Country Park. The kind staff at M&L came up with the idea of donating special items to go in doggy bags which will be given out on the day, including food sachets and waste bags for each dog.

Michele Osbourn owner of M&L Pets World said: “Most people know someone who has stayed or had treatment at the hospice and I am delighted to support such a worthwhile charity. Admittedly I didn’t know the extent of services the hospice provides but after speaking to Sam about Nightingale House, I knew I wanted to help out. If I can save Nightingale House money by donating products from my shop, I know that more people can be helped.”

Sam Eastwood, Area Fundraiser for Nightingale House said: “Our annual Woofs and Wellies dog walk is so much fun for everyone involved and we are grateful to M&L Pets World for supporting our hospice with their kindly donated products. Every penny saved means more money goes directly to patient care.

Our hospice is pet friendly because we know how important animals are to our patients and their families. We wanted to put together an event that rewarded our four legged friends. As it is Christmas this year’s walk is optional fancy dress!

Alyn Waters Country Park is such a beautiful walk and the choice of the 3km or 5km route on the day is great for all breeds of dogs, large or small, old or young. Last year we raised enough money to keep our daycare unit open for a week which is outstanding!”
