Nightingale House Hospice Day Unit – Helping people to adjust to their illness and increase their self confidence. People who attend the day unit receive care from a team of professionals as well as support from people who may be in, or have had, experience of a similar situation.
The day unit at Nightingale House Hospice is open between 10am and 3pm every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. A referral is required from a GP, consultant or specialist nurse. People living with life limiting conditions may be referred as an outpatient for symptom management, rehabilitation, specialist advice and support. Following referral from a health professional we make contact to offer an initial assessment with one of our specialist team. During the assessment any concerns can be addressed. Care can then be provided based on individual needs.
The services we offer include:
• Complementary therapies
• Psychological therapies
• Monitoring and stabilisation of symptoms (or symptom management) and support through outpatient attendance or Day Unit.
The care offered is holistic and life enhancing. Attendance is reviewed on a regular basis. Support can be offered in a variety of ways following discharge.

Our sessions cover topics including:

• Adjustment and Acceptance
• Caring for Carers
• Resilience, Relaxation and Mindfulness
• Fatigue and Breathlessness Management
• Gentle Exercise
• Thinking Ahead – Making Choices
Call 01978 316800 for more information. No referral required – just drop in.
Nightingale House Hospice is a registered charity; we are not part of the NHS. We provide our services free of charge to all patients. It costs around £3 Million to run the Hospice each year which equates to nearly £8,000 per day. We only receive around 22% of our running costs from the Welsh Assembly Government and the Health Board. To ensure the Hospice keeps running we need to fund the remaining 78% from our own fundraising activities which includes support from our local community and gifts from peoples Wills.
How to find us
We are based on Chester Road in Wrexham. Whilst we attempt to provide car parking space for our patients and their visitors, from time to time our car park is full. On these occasions we kindly ask that you do not double park/park on double yellow lines (even if you have a disabled badge) as this restricts access for ambulances/emergency vehicles and deliveries.
There is street parking available within a short distance of the Hospice.
