Child Bereavement Memory Crafts
Within the Release program, arts and crafts are used for their major therapeutic benefits. By using these, children are encouraged to work through their feelings grief and loss during a difficult time. These activities make use of memory boxes and photo frames especially designed by the children.

Child Bereavement Session
Release supports bereaved children and families in the local area following the loss of someone special in their lives. They do not have to be directly linked to the hospice. We hope that our service will enable people to access support and information much more quickly and that it will also result in us being able to support many more families and children who require bereavement support. They are a very committed and dedicated team.

Day Care
Day Care provides an opportunity for patients with life limiting illnesses to get together in comfortable and caring surroundings, and is also an access point to other specialist palliative care services that the hospice provides. Day Care provides the opportunity to make friends, share experiences and gain support from other people in similar situations. The staff work closely with the patient, their family and community services to identify specific goals to aim for during the patient’s day, once those goals have been achieved the patient may be discharged from day care to access our discharge support group ‘The Cuckoos’

Hydrotherapy
At Nightingale House we have the only hydrotherapy pool for adults within our area. Hydrotherapy involves the therapeutic use of a warm water pool. Carefully structured exercises are used in the hydrotherapy pool to help with many different problems. We use the pool to help muscular, joint, and mobility problems, and to aid relaxation. The temperature of the water helps to stimulate blood flow and relax muscles; while the buoyancy of the water reduces the physical stresses placed on the body and can help the body to move.
