  • Temporary Shop Manager

    For the Shop on Mold Rd Wrexham
    37.5 hours per week
    £18,000 per annum

    We are looking for a temporary shop manager for our store on Mold Road, Wrexham.  With an eye for detail and taking a hands on approach, you will need to be commercially aware, driven and well organised.  You will also have the passion and leadership skills to motivate a team of volunteers in order to maximise profits and help us raise the funds to run the hospice.

    We are looking for someone who can deliver high retail standards of presentation and merchandising and who enjoys being on the shop floor and driving sales through great customer service.

    Experience of working in a large fast paced retail store would be an advantage.

  • Shop Assistant

    24 hours per week
    (3 days out of 7 on a rota basis)
    £7.99 per hour

    In partnership with FCC Environment Ltd we have recently launched an exciting new retail venture at the HWRC on Bryn Lane, Wrexham. We sell products that have been rescued from recycling centres across Wrexham.

    We are looking for someone with a passion for customer service and who has high retail standards of presentation and display who would like to join our retail team in this exciting new venture. The role will also require electrical stock to be PAT tested prior to sale and records to be maintained. Candidates must be able to work every alternate weekend.

    A Category C1 driving licence is essential as stock has to be collected from the satellite HWRCs and brought to the Bryn Lane site.

  • Chef

    24 HOURS PER WEEK (3 Days per Week)
    (Sunday 8.00 am to 5.30 pm plus 2 other days in the week)
    £10.50 PER HOUR

    We are looking for an experienced Chef to join our Catering team working here at the Hospice. Reporting to our Head Chef you will provide a high level of catering services to meet patient and hospice needs. You will also support the team in providing high quality food for our Caffi Cwtch as well as providing catering support for external events or corporate entertainment.

    You will have the relevant catering qualifications and at least one year’s post qualification experience.

    • Community Fundraiser

      Community Fundraiser
      Nightingale House Hospice, Wrexham
      37 Hours
      Salary: £20,000 – £23,000 depending on experience

      Nightingale House Hospice is looking for a new Community Fundraiser to join the Fundraising team. The Community Fundraiser is responsible for all fundraising activity within a defined area. This will include developing relationships with existing supporters, building relationships with new supporters and encouraging third party fundraising activity within the local community.

      We are ideally looking for a professional with at least two years’ experience in one or more of the following fields; fundraising, marketing, sales, hospitality or similar.

      Above all, the role requires experience with relationship management combined with a proven track record of achieving financial targets.

      Ideally the successful candidate should have:-

      • Experience working in the charity sector
      • Experience working towards financial targets
      • Exceptionally organised with good time management skills
      • The ability to empathise and build excellent relationships
      • Excellent verbal, written and listening skills

      Key Responsibilities

      • To maximise fundraising opportunities for Nightingale House Hospice
      • To be responsible for a personal income target that is set by the Head of Fundraising
      • Working as part of the income generation team to help develop new fundraising activities and campaigns
      • Develop ongoing relationships with new and existing donors to maximise fundraising income
      • To manage third party events where Nightingale House has been chosen as the beneficiary charity
      • To support third party fundraisers taking part in sponsored challenge events and ensure they maximise their fundraising and sponsorship
      • To give presentations in the community to local organisations in order to increase awareness and generate support for Nightingale House

      About the Charity – Nightingale House Hospice provides care and support for patients and families living with a life limiting illness. We provide care across a wide stretching area from Wrexham, Flintshire and East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch. Our ambitious future plans mean we will need to raise over £3 million each year: something we do with huge support from of our local community.

      A questionnaire will be sent to the successful candidate. This must be completed and forwarded to Occupational Health. The candidate must be declared fit before commencing employment.

      Qualifications/Professional Registration

      Appointments are offered subject to the successful candidate providing evidence of professional qualification(s) and continuing professional registration.


      All offers of employment are subject to the receipt of two references that are satisfactory to the Hospice.

      Contract – Notice Period    

      1 week’s notice is required, from either party, during the probationary period and 4 weeks thereafter.

      Probationary Period

      Appointments for all staff are subject to a 3 or 6 month probationary period depending on the role.

      The Hospice operates a pension scheme through NOW pensions who will contact you regarding the scheme and eligibility once you are in post. If you are currently in the NHS pension scheme please discuss this with HR on commencement.

      Life Insurance Cover

      Death in Service Life Insurance Cover equivalent to two times basic salary for all eligible staff who are not covered by the NHS Superannuation Scheme.


      Holiday entitlement is 25 days per year plus 8 Bank Holidays for full time staff, (pro rata for part time hours). This increases to a maximum of 32 days plus Bank Holidays after 10 years service, subject to Holiday policy.

      Sick Pay        

      In the first year of service – up to 5 contractual sick days then SSP

      In the second year of service – up to 10 contractual sick days then SSP.

      After two years’ employment            – up to 13 weeks full pay and 13 weeks half             pay in any rolling year

      After 5 years’ employment – up to 26 weeks full pay and 26 weeks half pay in any rolling year

      Pro rata for part time staff. The above is subject to the sickness absence procedures being followed.

      Bank Holiday           

      Time worked on a Bank holiday is paid at time and a half. This payment is only for staff who are required to work on the Bank Holiday e.g. Inpatients, Kitchen, Housekeeping.

      Staff Dining Room

      Excellent catering facilities which offer hot meals, snacks and sandwiches at lunch time.
