Christmas Fair success for Hospice

Nightingale House Hospice’s annual Christmas Fair, which took place on Saturday 19th November in Wrexham’s Memorial Hall, was a great success, raising over £3,800 to go towards providing specialist palliative care services to its patients and their families at the Hospice.

Hundreds of supporters attended to the Hospice’s Fair which was filled with Christmas gifts stalls, including jewellery, crafts, beauty and health products, a teddy and bottle tombola, eyebrow waxing and tinting and delicious cakes, cupcakes and biscuits. There also was a bingo activity and a Christmas raffle to take part in.

The Hospice’s younger supporters had fun getting the faces painting, visiting the sweet and toys stalls and meeting Santa and his helpers in his grotto.

The Hospice’s annual car raffle was also drawn live at the fair.  The lucky winner was a local lady from Wrexham.  She will be getting a call from the Hospice to congratulate her and to arrange to pick up her new shiny Fiat Punto Evo.

Samantha Lee, Community Fundraiser at Nightingale House Hospice said: “Thank you to everyone who attended, helped or volunteered at the fair, without you it would not have been the huge success that it was. All of the money raised will go towards providing the vital specialist care at the Hospice, so thank you so much.”

Nightingale House Hospice provides specialist palliative care services, completely free-of-charge, to patients and their families across a wide area stretching from Wrexham, Flintshire, East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch.  This year alone, it will cost £2.46 million to run the Hospice, this equates to £6,700 per day.  Only 19% of this comes from statutory government sources.  The Hospice greatly relies on the generosity of the communities it serves.
