Buckley school reunion raises funds for hospice
Fifty six ex pupils of Buckley Elfed School have raised over £400 for our hospice as part of a school reunion.
The class of `61 met at the Beaufort Park Hotel, near Mold and raised £430 from the sale of tickets and CDs featuring photographs of old school days, special times and friendships.
A vote was taken at the event to choose a charity to support, with Nightingale House coming out tops.
Co-organiser Pat Griffiths said: “It was wonderful to see fellow pupils again after such a long time. Many people hadn’t seen each other since leaving school 56 years ago but we rolled back the years, reminisced and had a great time catching up with each other. We were very pleased to support Nightingale House and to also have the opportunity to visit the hospice to pass on the proceeds in person.”
Hospice Fundraiser Debbie Barton said: “We would like to thank Pat, Margaret and Maureen and all those who supported us at the school reunion. It sounds like a lovely occasion and it was very kind of everyone involved to add in a fundraising element to the evening. We really appreciate the donation which helps us in our work caring for local people and their families affected by life-threatening or life-limiting illness.”
